This is an exciting opportunity to lead one of the Council's most important service areas; a portfolio that sits at the heart of our financial sustainability and delivers vital support to thousands of residents and businesses across the borough.

The services within this portfolio generate and collect over £295 million in revenue each year, whilst ensuring that around £64 million in benefits and support reaches those who need it most. As our new Assistant Director, you will inherit a well-established service with experienced and committed teams who are passionate about what they do. This role offers a rare opportunity to build on strong foundations, bringing fresh ideas, developing future leaders, and helping us continue to deliver high-performing services in an increasingly complex and changing environment.

Your ability to develop talent, build relationships and influence at all levels will be just as important as your professional knowledge.

This position also provides the opportunity to play a highly visible role across the Council. Working closely with elected members, corporate leadership colleagues and external partners, you will be Harrow's senior professional lead for Revenues and Benefits, helping to shape strategy, navigate legislative change and identify opportunities to maximise income while maintaining a strong focus on resident outcomes.

The vacancy arises following the retirement of a long-serving and respected colleague. We have the benefit of a planned transition period, ensuring valuable knowledge transfer and providing our successful candidate with the best possible start.
